A scented butter with hemp extract is a lot of moving parts to keep honest. So the list stays short, the scent stays at a whisper, and every ingredient is disclosed in full.

The hemp extractFull-spectrum hemp extract, hemp-derived, included for a calm, quiet sensory experience. Full-spectrum means it carries the plant’s other compounds alongside the CBD. Ours tests non-detect for THC.
The magnesiumMagnesium chloride, at about 200 mg of magnesium per teaspoon. It is what gives the butter its smooth, grounding feel, and it is very low-allergen.
The baseRaw shea, coconut and mango butters. The texture is rich and melting. Massage a little into the back of the neck and shoulders, or wherever you carry the day.
ScentLavender and chamomile essential oils at about 1%, never synthetic fragrance. No menthol and nothing sharp. Benzyl alcohol is present as a preservative and is a declarable allergen, so this is labelled lightly scented rather than fragrance-free.

How to use it

Patch test first

With hemp extract on board, try a small amount on the inside of the forearm and wait 24 hours before fuller use.

Warm a small amount

Take a little on clean fingertips and let it soften. A small scoop goes a long way.

Massage where you carry it

Smooth into the back of the neck, the shoulders, or wherever you hold the day.

Keep it external

External use only. Wash your hands after, and keep away from eyes and broken skin.

Questions, answered plainly

Is this a hemp and magnesium body butter in one?

Yes. Grounded Descent pairs full-spectrum hemp extract with magnesium chloride in a base of raw butters, lightly scented with lavender and chamomile. The hemp extract is included for a calm, quiet sensory experience. If you would like the same butter without the scent, Pure Reset is the essential-oil-free version.

Will full-spectrum hemp extract show up on a drug test?

Our hemp extract tests non-detect for THC on its certificate of analysis, so there is nothing there to register. If you are tested and would rather carry no hemp extract at all, the butters without it are the ones to choose: Gentle Descent if you would like a soft scent, or Pure Descent unscented.

Is it fragrance-free?

No. Grounded Descent is lightly scented with lavender and chamomile essential oils at about 1%, never synthetic fragrance, and it also contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative, a declarable allergen. For those reasons it is not called fragrance-free. If you react to essential oils, Pure Reset is this same butter made essential-oil-free.

What is the difference between Grounded Descent and Pure Reset?

They are the same butter. Grounded Descent is lightly scented with lavender and chamomile. Pure Reset has the essential oils left out entirely, for skin that reacts to them or wants no scent. Same base, same hemp extract, your choice on the aromatic.

Can I use it if I am pregnant or nursing?

No. Grounded Descent contains full-spectrum hemp extract, so it is not for use during pregnancy or nursing, or under 21. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding and want a magnesium butter, Pure Descent is the pared-back one many reach for, with no hemp extract, no essential oils, and no menthol. Check with your doctor or midwife first. It is a cosmetic, and it does not treat, cure, or prevent anything.

AquaThe solvent the magnesium goes in

Water is what makes a preservative necessary, and it is why a jar that arrives separated should not be used.

Shea, Coconut & Mango ButtersRaw & unrefined, organic

The nourishing base. Mango is in the Anacardiaceae family, alongside cashew and pistachio. Shea is tree-derived and clinically low-allergen even for tree-nut-reactive skin. Both are named here for anyone with those specific allergies.

Lavender OilLavandula Angustifolia · 0.75%

Linalool makes up about 45% of this oil, alongside linalyl acetate, beta-caryophyllene, terpineol, geraniol, limonene and five more. These are aromatic components that some fragrance-sensitive skin reacts to. The full list is in the ingredient panel above.

Chamomile Flower OilAnthemis Nobilis · 0.25%

Roman chamomile, in the Asteraceae (daisy and ragweed) family, so it can cross-react for anyone sensitive to ragweed. Our sunflower-derived vitamin E sits in that same family, which gives this butter two Asteraceae points. The oil naturally contains pinene, linalool, geraniol, limonene, terpineol and citronellol.

Full-Spectrum Hemp ExtractHemp-derived · THC non-detect

Included for a calm, quiet sensory experience. Ours tests non-detect for THC. Not for use if pregnant, nursing, or under 21.

Cetearyl Olivate & Sorbitan OlivateOlive-derived emulsifier

The olive-based system that holds the butter together so it spreads evenly. Plant-derived and low-reactivity.

Benzyl AlcoholECOCERT-permitted preservative

Keeps the formula stable. It is here as a preservative rather than a scent ingredient, and it is also a declarable fragrance allergen on EU labels. That is the one reason this butter is not labelled ‘fragrance-free.’

Supporting baseCandelilla wax, dehydroacetic acid, vitamin E

Texture, structure, and freshness, all low-reactivity. Our vitamin E is sunflower-derived, which is the second Asteraceae point noted above.
