Frequently asked questions

Questions, answered.

Everything about how our products are made, sourced, and packaged — gathered in one calm place.

Products & Use

How long does one jar last?

Because our formulas are nutrient-dense and filler-free, you only need a very small amount per use. Many customers find one jar lasts 6–12 months depending on frequency and individual use — so a little tends to go a long way.

Do your products have a shelf life?

Yes. Because we use mostly raw, unrefined ingredients, we recommend using products within 12 months of purchase. We keep minimal stock and often make on demand, so you receive a fresh product. Powdered products keep longer — up to 24 months.

How are your products made?

We're a small-batch, women-owned, handmade line. Every product is made by hand in our small shop in San Diego, CA.

Where are your products made?

San Diego, California, USA. Our products are made and packaged in a facility that also handles tree nuts, peanuts, and soy; it is milk-, egg-, shellfish-, and wheat-free. If you have allergies, please check the listed allergens on each product page.

Ingredients & Sourcing

Where are your ingredients sourced?

We source almost all of our ingredients from local or USA suppliers. A few of them:

  • Local San Diego & US family farms — organic, locally grown hops, CBD wax, and Arizona-grown jojoba oil.
  • Bulk Naturals — 100% pure and undiluted, from their permaculture farm in the Ozarks and a local homesteading community.
  • Wholesale Botanics — responsibly sourced, cruelty-free, made in the USA.
  • Nature In Bottle — rigorously vetted suppliers and quality testing, with no synthetics, contaminants, or cheap fillers, and a transparent, ethical supply chain.
  • Jedwards International — a wholesale supplier of natural ingredients, including difficult-to-source and custom-manufactured materials.
Which ingredients are raw or unrefined?

We believe raw, unrefined ingredients are a thoughtful choice for skin. Most of our butters and 99% of our carrier oils are raw and unrefined — these ingredients are naturally rich in vitamins A and E and fatty acids. It's also what gives our products their unique natural scents.

Do you source sustainable ingredients?

Where we can, yes. We choose suppliers with specific practices we value — permaculture farming, organic growing, and responsible harvesting — because supporting those businesses helps them grow and supplies you with high-quality ingredients. It's a loop we're proud to be part of.

Do you use preservatives?

We use Ecocert broad-spectrum preservatives in products that contain water or will come into contact with water. Our dry/powdered and oil/butter products contain no preservatives. Our preservative is Ecocert-accepted for natural and organic certified cosmetics, Soil Association approved, and certified vegan and Beauty Without Cruelty.

Why are so many of your products water-free?

We make most of our products without added water to use less water and extend shelf life. Because our oil-based and bar products contain no added water, they're more concentrated, lighter to ship, travel-friendly, and won't spill.

Safety & Sensitivities

Are your products cruelty-free and vegan?

Yes. We never test on animals (only on willing friends and family), and all of our ingredients are vegan.

I have allergies or sensitive skin — what should I know?

We craft our products with natural oils, butters, herbs, clays, and botanicals, including natural nuts, seeds, and fruit. If you have allergies, please read the product label and the ingredients section before use.

If you're uncertain about a sensitivity, we recommend a patch test first; if irritation occurs, discontinue use. If you are pregnant, nursing, using a product on a child under 12, or managing a medical condition, please consult your physician before use.

Packaging

Where is your packaging sourced?

From UCanPack, EcoEnclose, Elevate Packaging, and Container & Packaging — companies we chose for specific practices like recycled content, recyclable materials, and home-compostable options.

Is your packaging compostable?

Much of it is. Our shipping supplies, boxes, filler, labels, tape, pouches, sample packs, and refills are designed to be home-compostable, meaning they can break down in a typical home compost setup.

Our clear stand-up refill pouches are home-compostable too, so we don't recommend them for long-term storage — pour the contents into an airtight jar and compost the pouch.

How do I dispose of your packaging?
  • Shipping boxes — recycle or compost
  • Packing filler — home compost
  • Shipping label & tissue paper — home compost
  • Refill pouches — home or commercial compost (or trash if you have neither)
  • Sample packs & bag labels — home compost
  • Jars — refill and reuse; otherwise, please recycle
