i. The Signal
When brightening has always come with a sting.
For reactive skin, brightening has usually meant acid, and acid has usually meant stinging. You get a fresher-looking finish, and you pay for it with days of raw, tight skin. After enough of that, most people stop reaching for anything labeled brightening.
The Brighten Cleansing Bar was built for exactly that.
ii. The Ritual
A daily cleanse that leaves skin looking fresh and more radiant.
A creamy, low-foam bar built around fruit-derived vitamin C. Camu camu, kakadu plum, and baobab are among the richest natural sources of it, carried in a cocoa and shea butter base that keeps the whole cleanse soft. Papaya fruit powder adds a gentle enzymatic touch, and soft kaolin clay does the clarifying here.
Skin is left feeling clean and comfortable, with a brighter, more even-looking finish. There are no exfoliating acids in the bar. The brightness comes from fruit powders, left to do the work on their own.
Made for skin that
iii. The Standard
How the brightening actually gets done.
Every brightening choice here had to meet the same standard as the rest of the line: gentle enough for a face that reacts to almost everything. Twenty ingredients, and each one named on the label.
Slow-melting and nutrient-dense. Most customers enjoy one bar for 6–12 months.
Sensory Notes
The bar is firm and dry to the touch, with a faint fleck through it from the fruit powders. It softens as soon as it meets warm water and gives up a creamy, low-foam lather. Under your fingers it is velvety with the barest grain, closer to a fine cream than a scrub, and it never catches. It rinses away without a squeak and leaves skin looking a shade fresher.
How to Use
AM ritual
Lather between your hands with warm water, massage gently over damp skin in small circles, and rinse with warm water. Follow with your essence, serum, and moisturizer.
PM ritual
Use as your first or second cleanse after removing sunscreen or makeup. Massage gently in small circles and rinse with lukewarm water.
For reactive skin
No scrubbing needed. Use light pressure, avoid hot water, and let the creamy lather do the work. Avoid the eye area.
Where it sits in your routine
This is step one, morning and night. Once or twice a week follow it with the Cacao Renewal Polish or the Radiance Mask. Finish with the Defy Face Butter or whichever elixir you already keep.
The middle step is optional. On a hard week, cleanse and finish, and leave the rest for when you have more to give.
Care & Keeping
How long one bar lasts
Slow-melting and dense. Most customers get 6 to 12 months from a single bar, used morning and night. It wears down evenly rather than cracking apart near the end.
Whether it is preserved, and why
There is no water in the bar itself. It is preserved anyway, because a cleansing bar lives in a wet bathroom and gets wet every time you pick it up. The system is gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, both ECOCERT-certified.
It carries no benzyl alcohol. That is the reason this bar can be called fragrance-free without a caveat, while our water-based butters cannot.
Keeping it dry
Let the bar dry out between uses, on a draining dish or a slatted rest. A bar left sitting in a puddle softens and goes through two or three times faster. Out of the direct spray in the shower, and away from a sunny windowsill.
If it arrives soft in hot weather
It is fine. There is no water phase to spoil, so a soft bar is a warm bar and nothing more. Leave it somewhere cool for an hour, or put it in the fridge for twenty minutes, and it will firm up again.
It may come back looking a little more matte, or with the fruit flecks a touch more pronounced. That is the cocoa butter settling after a warm journey, and it washes exactly the same. If it arrives genuinely damaged, tell us and we will replace it.
Ingredients
Twenty ingredients. A gentle brightening cleanse, and nothing in it that does not earn its place.

Formulated for reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin. We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before facial use.
Contains avocado oil and papaya, both in the latex-fruit group. If you have very reactive skin or a latex allergy, patch test before first use, and discontinue if irritation occurs.
For external use only. Avoid the eye area, and rinse with water if the lather gets into your eyes.

Autoimmune & Sensitivity Transparency
A brightening cleanse with no exfoliating acids, and open about every ingredient.
I formulate for skin that reacts to almost everything, including my own, so I build for less and I name all of it. The Brighten Cleansing Bar is a creamy, low-foam cleanse that gets its brightness from fruit rather than acid: genuinely fragrance-free, essential oil-free, gluten-free, and free of any exfoliating acid. If you are navigating an autoimmune condition, MCAS, eczema, psoriasis, or skin that is easily overwhelmed, this is a brightening step meant to feel like care. Here is the full picture, including the two ingredients worth a closer look.
Why it’s made for reactive skin
Genuinely fragrance-free
This is one of the products I can call fragrance-free without a caveat. There is no synthetic fragrance and no essential oils, and the preservation system contains none of the benzyl alcohol that, as a declarable fragrance allergen, keeps the water-based butters from carrying that claim. The soft cocoa note you may notice is simply the raw cocoa butter itself.
Two ingredients in the latex-fruit group
This bar contains avocado oil and papaya fruit powder. Both sit in the latex-fruit cross-reactivity group, which matters to a small number of people with a latex allergy. Neither is hidden in a blend or a fragrance. They are named on the label and named here so you can decide before you buy. If latex cross-reactivity is part of your picture, patch test first, alongside your doctors, never instead.
Gluten-free, and specific about it
This bar is gluten-free: it is formulated without any gluten-containing ingredients, and the one grain it does contain, oat kernel flour, comes certified gluten-free, tested to the below-20 ppm standard. To be precise, that certification is on the oats, not on the finished bar. The full detail, including the note on avenin, is in the ingredient list below.
Every ingredient, named
Here is everything in the bar, nothing hidden and nothing cherry-picked. The notes below are written for anyone who avoids gluten grains, carries a latex-fruit cross-reactivity, or has a specific oat, coconut, or mold sensitivity, so you can decide with the full facts in hand.

That is everything. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.
If you are navigating a condition, use this alongside your doctors, never instead. Indiefog products are cosmetics, made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin. They do not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

After trying this cleansing bar, your skin will not be the same. It feels so great on the skin and I can already see some great changes.

I love this cleansing bar because it doesn’t dry out skin like other cleansers and the vitamin c makes my skin look bright.
