When brightening has always come with a sting.
For reactive skin, brightening has usually meant acid, and acid has usually meant stinging. You get a fresher-looking finish, and you pay for it with days of raw, tight skin. After enough of that, most people stop reaching for anything labeled brightening.
The Brighten Cleansing Bar was built for exactly that. It is a creamy, low-foam bar where the brightness comes from fruit powders rather than acid, in a cocoa and shea butter base that keeps the whole cleanse soft.

Camu camu, kakadu plum, and baobab are among the richest natural sources of vitamin C, and they are here as whole fruit powders.
There is no glycolic, lactic, or ascorbic acid in the bar. Papaya fruit powder adds a gentle enzymatic touch, and soft kaolin clay does the clarifying. Two of these ingredients sit in the latex-fruit cross-reactivity group, which matters to a small number of people. The allergens fold names both plainly.

No exfoliating acids. No synthetic fragrance and no essential oils. No benzyl alcohol, which is why this one is fragrance-free with no caveat. No sulfates. No parabens, paraffin, dyes, or talc.

Truly fragrance-free, with no caveat. The preservation system is gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, both ECOCERT-certified, and it contains none of the benzyl alcohol that keeps our water-based butters from carrying the claim. The soft cocoa note you may notice is the raw cocoa butter itself.

How to use it

Morning
Lather between your hands with warm water, massage gently over damp skin in small circles, and rinse.

Evening
Use as your first or second cleanse after removing sunscreen or makeup. Massage gently and rinse with lukewarm water.

Take your time here
Small circles at light pressure, and a few unhurried breaths. Washing your face is the first thing you do that says the day is over, and your system hears it.

For reactive skin
Use minimal pressure and avoid hot water. Let the creamy lather do the work, and avoid the eye area.

Let it dry
Stand it on a draining dish out of the shower spray and let it dry between uses. That is most of what makes a bar last.

This bar contains papaya fruit powder and avocado oil, and both sit in the latex-fruit cross-reactivity group, which matters to a small number of people with a latex allergy. Neither is hidden in a blend or a fragrance. They are named on the label and named here so you can decide before you buy. If latex cross-reactivity is part of your picture, patch test first, alongside your doctors, never instead.

Oat Kernel FlourAvena Sativa · certified gluten-free
Soothing and cushioning for most skin. The oats here are certified gluten-free, sourced and tested to the below-20 ppm standard, so they do not carry gluten from neighboring grains. Two honest notes remain. Oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own. And oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema. If either applies to you, decide alongside your doctors, never instead.
Cocoa, Shea & CoconutTheobroma Cacao, Butyrospermum Parkii, Cocos Nucifera
The nourishing base, and the source of the soft natural cocoa note. Shea is tree-derived and clinically low-allergen even for tree-nut-reactive skin. Coconut milk powder is a plant milk, named here for anyone with a coconut allergy.
Sodium Cocoyl IsethionateCoconut-derived cleanser
The mild cleanser behind the creamy, low-foam lather. Coconut-derived, so worth noting only if you have a coconut allergy.
Snow MushroomTremella Fuciformis
A hydrating botanical used across the line. It is a mushroom, so a small number of people with mold or fungal sensitivity prefer to know it is here.
Kaolin, Gotu Kola, Green Tea & RosehipClay and soothing botanicals
Soft clarifying clay with calming gotu kola, antioxidant green tea, and conditioning rosehip fruit oil. All low-reactivity. Gotu kola is Apiaceae, named here for completeness.

Structure, texture, and stability. Stearic acid is a fatty acid that gives the bar its firmness, and it does no exfoliating. All well tolerated.

An ECOCERT-certified preservation system, and the reason this bar can be called fragrance-free, with none of the benzyl alcohol the water-based products carry.
That is everything in the bar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, the papaya or avocado if latex cross-reactivity is part of your picture, or the oat if you are celiac, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.

How long one bar lasts
Slow-melting and dense, used morning and night. It wears down evenly rather than cracking apart near the end.
Whether it is preserved, and why
There is no water in the bar itself. It is preserved anyway, because a cleansing bar lives in a wet bathroom and gets wet every time you pick it up. The system is gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, both ECOCERT-certified.
It carries no benzyl alcohol. That is the reason this bar can be called fragrance-free without a caveat, while our water-based butters cannot.
Keeping it dry
Let the bar dry out between uses, on a draining dish or a slatted rest. A bar left sitting in a puddle softens and goes through two or three times faster. Out of the direct spray in the shower, and away from a sunny windowsill.
If it arrives soft in hot weather
It is fine. There is no water phase to spoil, so a soft bar is a warm bar and nothing more. Leave it somewhere cool for an hour, or put it in the fridge for twenty minutes, and it will firm up again.
It may come back looking a little more matte on the surface. That is the cocoa butter settling after a warm journey, and it washes exactly the same. If it arrives genuinely damaged, tell us and we will replace it.
