i. The Signal

When your skin feels tight before it even feels clean.

If your skin is dry and reactive, you already know how this goes. The wash that squeaks. The tight, parched feeling that sets in before you have even reached for moisturizer.

The Hydrate Cleansing Bar was made to be a soft, steady beginning. A cleanse that feels like care.

ii. The Ritual

A creamy cleanse that leaves skin hydrated.

A creamy, low-foam cleansing bar for dry, tight, or easily overwhelmed skin. It melts into a soft, cushiony cream that washes the day away with no stripping and no sting. Skin is left feeling calm and comfortable after every wash.

Oat kernel flour, snow mushroom, and nourishing plant butters keep skin feeling soft and supported, so cleansing becomes the gentlest step in your routine.

Made for skin that

feels tight, dry, or parched after cleansing
is sensitive, reactive, or easily overwhelmed
wants a cleanse that hydrates as it washes
prefers a creamy, low-foam wash

iii. The Standard

How this bar is built.

The Hydrate Cleansing Bar cleanses with sodium cocoyl isethionate, a mild coconut-derived surfactant, carried in cocoa and shea butters with oat kernel flour and snow mushroom. That combination was chosen because it lifts the day at a level dry, reactive skin tolerates comfortably, and because it leaves the face soft rather than tight.

Creamy, non-stripping washA gentle, coconut-derived cleanser washes the day away so skin feels soft and comfortable.
Hydration that lingersSnow mushroom and oat kernel flour help skin feel cushioned and hydrated well after the rinse.
Botanical comfortAloe, oat, bamboo, bisabolol, and allantoin, chosen to feel calming on reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin.
Truly fragrance-freeNo synthetic fragrance and no essential oils, preserved with an ECOCERT-certified system.

The hero · Certified gluten-free oat

A closer look at the oatsAvena Sativa · kernel flour · certified gluten-free

Oat is what gives this bar its cushion. It is here as kernel flour, and it is certified gluten-free, sourced and tested to the below-20 ppm standard so it carries no gluten from neighbouring grains. To be precise, that certification sits on the oats rather than on the finished bar. Two honest notes: oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own, and oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema. The transparency section below has the detail.

Slow-melting and dense. Most customers enjoy one bar for 6 to 12 months.

Sensory Notes

The bar is firm and dry to the touch, and it softens the moment it meets warm water. What comes up is closer to a whipped cream than a foam. It stays slippy under your fingers the whole time, so there is nothing to drag against, and it rinses away without a squeak.

In handFirm, smooth, dry to the touch. Dense for its size.
LatherCreamy and low-foam. Closer to whipped cream than to bubbles.
While you washSlippy rather than draggy. A little goes a long way.
After rinseSoft and cushioned. No tightness, and no film left behind.
An hour laterStill comfortable. This is the part that tells you it suited you.

Scent: faintly of cocoa, the way a bar of dark chocolate smells through the wrapper. You notice it while you are lathering, and it is gone by the time you have dried your face. It never fills the room. That note is the raw cocoa butter itself. Nothing was added to make it smell that way, and this bar is truly fragrance-free and essential oil-free.

How to Use

AM ritual

Lather with water, massage gently, and rinse. Follow with your essence, serum, and moisturizer.

PM ritual

Use as your first or second cleanse after removing sunscreen or makeup. Massage gently and rinse with lukewarm water.

Take your time here

This is the part worth slowing down for. Small circles at light pressure, and a few unhurried breaths. Washing your face is the first thing you do that says the day is over, and your system hears it.

For reactive skin

Use minimal pressure and avoid hot water. Let the creamy lather do the work.

Where it sits in your routine

This is step one. Cleanse with the bar, morning and night. Once or twice a week, follow with the Cacao Renewal Polish or the Radiance Mask. Finish with the Defy Face Butter or whichever elixir you already keep.

The middle step is optional. In a hard week, cleanse and finish, and leave the rest for when you have more to give.

Care & Keeping

How long one bar lasts

Slow-melting and dense. Most customers get 6 to 12 months from a single bar, used morning and night. It wears down evenly rather than cracking apart near the end.

Whether it is preserved, and why

There is no water in the bar itself. It is preserved anyway, because a cleansing bar lives in a wet bathroom and gets wet every time you pick it up. The system is gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, both ECOCERT-certified.

It carries no benzyl alcohol. That is the reason this bar can be called fragrance-free without a caveat, while our water-based butters cannot.

Keeping it dry

Let the bar dry out between uses, on a draining dish or a slatted rest. A bar left sitting in a puddle softens and goes through two or three times faster. Out of the direct spray in the shower, and away from a sunny windowsill.

If it arrives soft in hot weather

It is fine. There is no water phase to spoil, so a soft bar is a warm bar and nothing more. Leave it somewhere cool for an hour, or put it in the fridge for twenty minutes, and it will firm up again.

It may come back looking a little more matte on the surface. That is the cocoa butter settling after a warm journey, and it washes exactly the same. If it arrives genuinely damaged, tell us and we will replace it.

Formulated for reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin. We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before facial use.

For external use only. Avoid the eye area, and if the lather gets into your eyes, rinse with water. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Sensitivity Transparency

A hydrating, fragrance-free cleanse, and open about every ingredient.

I formulate for skin that reacts to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it.

The Hydrate Cleansing Bar is a creamy, low-foam cleanse for dry, tight, or easily-overwhelmed skin. It is truly fragrance-free, essential oil-free, gluten-free, and non-stripping. If you are navigating an autoimmune condition, MCAS, eczema, psoriasis, or simply skin that is easily overwhelmed, this is a cleanse meant to feel like care. Here is the full picture.

Why it’s made for reactive skin

Truly fragrance-freeNo synthetic fragrance, no essential oils, and no benzyl alcohol. Nothing scented at all.
A creamy, non-stripping cleanseA mild coconut-derived cleanser, with no sulfates and no squeak, that leaves skin hydrated.
Gluten-free, with certified GF oatsThe bar is formulated without gluten, and the only grain in it comes certified gluten-free.
ECOCERT-certified preservationPreserved with an ECOCERT-certified system, gentle on reactive skin.
Soothing botanicalsAloe, oat, bamboo, bisabolol, and allantoin, chosen to feel calm on easily-overwhelmed skin.

Truly fragrance-free

This is one of the products I can call fragrance-free without a caveat. There is no synthetic fragrance and no essential oils, and the preservation system contains none of the benzyl alcohol that, as a declarable fragrance allergen, keeps our water-based butters from carrying that claim. The soft cocoa note you may notice is simply the raw cocoa butter itself.

Gluten-free, and specific about it

This bar is gluten-free. It is formulated without any gluten-containing ingredients, and the one grain it does contain, oat kernel flour, comes certified gluten-free, tested to the below-20 ppm standard. To be precise, that certification is on the oats rather than on the finished bar. The full detail, including the note on avenin, is in the ingredient list below.

Every ingredient, named

Here is everything in the bar, nothing hidden and nothing cherry-picked. It is made with soothing certified gluten-free oat and a few tree- and seed-derived ingredients. The notes below are written for anyone who avoids gluten grains or has a specific oat, nut, or coconut allergy, so you can decide with the full facts in hand.

Oat Kernel FlourAvena Sativa · certified gluten-free · hero
Soothing and cushioning for most skin. The oats here are certified gluten-free, sourced and tested to the below-20 ppm standard, so they do not carry gluten from neighbouring grains. Two honest notes remain. Oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own. And oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema. If either applies to you, decide alongside your doctors, never instead.

Sodium Cocoyl IsethionateCoconut-derived cleanser
The mild cleanser behind the creamy, low-foam lather. Coconut-derived, so worth noting if you have a coconut allergy.

Cocoa, Shea & CoconutTheobroma Cacao, Butyrospermum Parkii, Cocos Nucifera
The nourishing base, and the source of the soft natural cocoa note. Shea is tree-derived and clinically low-allergen even for tree-nut-reactive skin. Coconut is named here for anyone with a coconut allergy.

Tamanu Seed OilCalophyllum Inophyllum
A replenishing plant oil pressed from the tamanu seed. Some people with nut allergies choose to avoid or patch test seed-derived oils like this one.

Snow Mushroom, Aloe, Bamboo, Bisabolol & AllantoinTremella, Aloe, Bambusa, Bisabolol, Allantoin
The hydrating and soothing botanicals, all low-reactivity. Bisabolol is very gentle, and if you react strongly to the daisy and chamomile family, it is named here for completeness.

Squalane & supporting baseSqualane, stearic acid, polyglyceryl-4 oleate, sodium phytate
Lightweight conditioning, structure, and texture, all well tolerated.

PreservationGluconolactone, sodium benzoate · ECOCERT-certified
An ECOCERT-certified preservation system, and the reason this bar can be called fragrance-free, with none of the benzyl alcohol our water-based butters carry.

That is everything in the bar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.

If you are navigating a condition, use this alongside your doctors, never instead. The Hydrate Cleansing Bar is a cosmetic. It is made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin, and it does not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

  1. Amy

My hair loves this bar. It’s so soft without leaving it crazy frizzy. Which is so nice because my skin is sooo sensitive to most hair products. I’ve noticed that if it’s not sudsing big after a just few swipes it’s time to use my clarifying shampoo. I’ve gone from clarifying once a week to maybe once or twice a month and I’m shocked how long this bar has lasted me. Literally months! washing my thick shoulder length hippie hair 3 times a week. Also, no strong smells. Get it!

  2. Amy

I do like this facial bar. However, I find that it is a little bit drying for MY skin using it stand alone but coupled with rejuvenate elixir they make a really great team. No crazy smells and easy to use.
