i. The Signal
When the answer is less, not more.
Some skin has been asked to tolerate too much, and it has stopped being quiet about it. When you have reacted before, another jar of promises is a lot to ask. What helps at that point is everything you do not need, taken out.
Pure Descent is the simplest thing I make. An unscented magnesium body butter, with magnesium, raw butters, and nothing else added.
ii. The Ritual
Magnesium and butters, nothing else.
Magnesium chloride blended into raw shea, coconut, and mango. No fragrance, no essential oils, no CBD, no menthol. Nothing activating, nothing aromatic. Just a smooth, grounding butter and the shortest list in the line. It is the jar I hand to the most sensitive people first.
The texture is rich and melting. Massage a little into the back of the neck, the shoulders, or the bottoms of the feet before bed. A quiet, grounding way to end the day.

iii. The Standard
Ten ingredients, and the reason for each.
The standard here is restraint. Ten ingredients in the jar, every one named, with nothing aromatic and nothing activating. This one is for the skin that does best when it is asked the least.
A little goes a long way. One jar tends to last, used as a nightly ritual.
Sensory Notes
A rich, buttery balm that melts as you massage it in. There is no scent, no cool, no heat, and no tingle. Just a smooth, grounding layer and nothing else. This is the most pared-back butter in the line.
How to Use
Warm a small amount
Take a little on clean fingertips and let it soften. A small scoop goes a long way.
Massage where you wind down
Smooth into the back of the neck, the shoulders, or the bottoms of the feet.
Before bed
Use it as the last quiet step of your evening, as a nightly grounding ritual.
Keep it external
External use only. Wash your hands after, and keep away from eyes and broken skin. For pregnancy, breastfeeding, or use on children, check with your care team first, and patch test, always.
Where it sits in your routine
This is the spot treatment, for the neck, the shoulders, or the bottoms of the feet at night. If you want something for all over, the Aurea Calendula Body Crème goes on first after a shower, and this goes on top of the places that need it.
Two steps, and the first one is optional. Most people use this on its own.
Care & Keeping
How long a jar lasts
A thumbnail-sized scoop covers the back of the neck and both shoulders, so a jar used nightly lasts a long time. Most people take less after the first fortnight, once they stop scooping like it is a body lotion.
Whether it is preserved, and why
Yes, and here is the reason. Magnesium chloride goes into this butter dissolved rather than as a powder, so there is water in the jar. Water is what makes a preservative necessary. The system is dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol, both ECOCERT-permitted, at the smallest amount that keeps the butter stable.
Benzyl alcohol is here as a preservative rather than a scent ingredient, and it is also a declarable fragrance allergen on EU labels. That is the one reason this butter is called unscented rather than fragrance-free.
Storing it, and keeping water out
Cool, out of direct sun, lid on between uses. Because there is water in the formula, scoop with dry fingers or a small spatula rather than wet hands, and keep the jar off the edge of the bath. A preserved product is protected, and it still does better when you are not adding shower water to it every night.
If it arrives warm, and when to stop
Softening in a hot mailbox is normal. Let the closed jar sit somewhere cool and it will firm up again.
If it arrives separated, with a wet or watery layer sitting apart from the butter, that is a different thing. Do not use it. Send us a photograph and we will replace it. Because this butter carries water, a split jar is not something to work around, and we would always rather send another one.
Ingredients
The shortest formula in the line: magnesium and raw butters, gently preserved. Nothing aromatic, nothing activating, every ingredient named.

Formulated for reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin. We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before wider use.
External use only. Keep away from eyes and broken skin, and avoid freshly shaved skin, where magnesium can tingle.
Indiefog products are cosmetics, made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin, not to treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
Because we prioritize freshness and small-batch production, the list above may occasionally vary from your packaging. The ingredient list printed on your jar always reflects the exact formula inside.

Autoimmune & Sensitivity Transparency
The quietest butter I make, and open about every ingredient.
I formulate for skin that reacts to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it.
Pure Descent is the simplest thing in the line. No fragrance, no essential oils, no CBD, no actives beyond the magnesium and the butters. If you are navigating an autoimmune condition, MCAS, eczema, psoriasis, or skin that is easily overwhelmed, or you are choosing for the most sensitive people in your house, this is the one designed to ask the least of you. Here is the full picture.
Why it’s made for reactive skin
Pregnancy, breastfeeding & little ones
Because there is no CBD, no essential oils, no menthol, and nothing aromatic in the jar, Pure Descent is the one many pregnant and breastfeeding moms, and parents of sensitive little ones, reach for first. Every body is different, so bring it to your doctor, midwife, or pediatrician before adding it to your routine, and patch test a small area first. Alongside your doctors, never instead.
Why it isn’t labeled “fragrance-free”
Pure Descent is truly unscented and essential oil-free. The one thing I name rather than hide is benzyl alcohol, an ECOCERT-permitted preservative that is also a declarable fragrance allergen on EU labels. It is here as a preservative rather than a scent ingredient, and that is the one reason this butter is not labeled ‘fragrance-free.’
Every ingredient, named
Here is everything in the jar, nothing hidden and nothing cherry-picked. The notes below are written for anyone with a specific allergy, so you can decide with the full facts in hand.

Want a soft scent instead?
Gentle Descent is this same grounding butter with a whisper of lavender and chamomile, about 1%, never synthetic fragrance.
That is everything in the jar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.
If you are navigating a condition, use this alongside your doctors, never instead. Pure Descent is a cosmetic. It is made to soften and comfort skin, and it does not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
