i. The Signal

When you want a little glow you can actually see.

Some mornings skin looks flat and uneven, and you want a touch of brightness. A wash of colour rather than a full face of makeup. Drier skin shows the flatness sooner. And if your skin is reactive, you already know what the strong actives cost you afterward.

Mineral Brightening Elixir was made to be exactly that. A tinted, brightening finish your skin can wear every day, and a soft, finished look that still feels like nothing.

ii. The Ritual

A steady, mineral-driven glow.

A lightweight, tinted Vitamin C and mineral balm that softens the look of dullness and leaves an even, soft-focus finish, through a waterless, gentle, non-acid formula. The natural minerals lend a smooth, blurring veil and a subtle wash of warmth.

The texture is a creamy mineral balm that warms and sheers out on contact, melting into an even, second-skin finish. A little, smoothed over moisturized skin, is the whole ritual.

Made for dry, mature skin. Through perimenopause and after, your skin makes less oil of its own. It can look flatter by the middle of the morning, and dullness shows on a dry surface first. This one is a waterless, oil-based balm, so it goes on soft over dry skin and stays soft.

Made for skin that

is dry or mature, and makes less oil than it used to
looks dull, uneven, or in need of a little glow
wants a soft tinted finish rather than full coverage
reacts to strong Vitamin C, acids, and exfoliants
loves a one-step, minimal-makeup look

iii. The Standard

How this balm is built.

Mineral Brightening Elixir is a waterless mineral balm. Jojoba and olive-derived emulsifiers carry kaolin, zinc oxide, and an iron-oxide tint, alongside a gentle, non-acid Vitamin C. Being waterless means it needs no preservative system at all, which is one fewer thing for reactive skin to meet.

98% natural · EWG 2A high-natural formula with a clean EWG rating.
Non-acid & gentleA gentle, non-acid form of Vitamin C. Brightness with no sting.
Fragrance-free & EO-freeNo synthetic fragrance and no essential oils.
Waterless · plastic-freeAn anhydrous balm, so no preservative is needed, in plastic-free, refillable packaging.

The hero · The mineral tint

A closer look at the mineralsNon-nano zinc oxide · kaolin · iron oxides

The finish comes from non-nano zinc oxide, kaolin, and iron oxides. Kaolin and zinc give the balm its smooth, blurring, soft-focus quality. The iron oxides give the warm, skin-like wash of colour, and they are mineral pigments, named in full as CI 77491, CI 77492, and CI 77499. Important: the zinc oxide here is a tint and finish ingredient. This is not a sunscreen and offers no sun protection. There is more on that below, and it is worth reading.

A little goes a long way. Most customers enjoy one jar for 3 to 6 months.

Sensory Notes

A creamy mineral balm that warms and softens on contact, then sheers out into an even, second-skin finish. It feels smooth and weightless, never chalky or heavy, and settles into a soft-focus, lightly warmed glow. There is no tingle and no sting, and nothing that asks your system to brace.

Initial feelCreamy and smooth. Warms and softens on contact.
ApplicationSheers out easily into an even, second-skin layer.
On dry skinWaterless and jojoba-based, so it goes on soft and stays soft.
LayeringOver your moisturizer, and under your sunscreen.
FinishSoft-focus and luminous, with a subtle wash of warmth.
OverallA one-step, minimal-makeup glow for the morning.
Scent: none added. Only the soft, earthy, faintly nutty note of the base oils. No synthetic fragrance, no essential oils.
How to Use

Find your shade first

Smooth a little along the jaw and let it settle for a minute. It will tell you both how the colour sits and how your skin feels about it.

Start with moisturized skin

Use over your serum, oil, or moisturizer, once skin is hydrated and the layer beneath has settled.

Warm a small amount

Take a small amount on clean fingertips and warm it briefly to soften the balm.

Press and sheer out

Press over the high points of the face and blend outward for an even, soft-focus finish. Build as you like, sheer for a hint of glow or layered for a touch more warmth.

Then your SPF

This balm is not a sunscreen. Finish your morning with a dedicated broad-spectrum SPF over the top.

Where it sits in your routine

This one is a morning step, and it goes on near the end. Cleanse, then an essence, then a serum, then the Ceramide Barrier Cream or a facial oil, then this pressed over the top. Your sunscreen goes on after it, as the last thing you do.

It replaces nothing else in the routine, and it does not replace your sunscreen.

Care & Keeping

How long a jar lasts

Most customers enjoy one jar for 3 to 6 months. It sheers out a long way, so a small amount covers more than it looks like it will.

Whether it is preserved, and why not

No, and it does not need one. There is no water in here. A preservative exists to stop things growing in water, and with no water there is nothing to grow in. That is one more thing left out on purpose, and it is part of why the list is as short as it is.

What is in here instead is vitamin E and ascorbyl palmitate. Those are antioxidants. They slow the oils turning over time, which is a different job from preserving, and worth knowing the difference if you read labels closely.

Storing it

Cool, out of direct sunlight, lid on. The base oils mind light and heat more than they mind anything else, so a sunny windowsill and the shelf above a hot shower are the two places to avoid. A drawer or a cupboard is ideal. Clean fingertips into the jar, the same as any balm.

If it arrives warm, and when to stop

Warmth in transit is normal, and a hot mailbox is nothing to worry about here. There is no water in this jar, so there is nothing to spoil and nothing to split the way a cream would. If it arrives soft, leave it somewhere cool and it firms up again.

What to watch for over a long time is the smell. Plant oils turn eventually, and when they do the scent goes sharp or flat rather than soft. If yours smells different from the jar you opened, stop using it on your face and tell us, and we will replace it.

Please Note

Formulated for reactive, easily-overwhelmed skin. We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before facial use. Because this one carries a mineral tint, a patch along the jaw also helps you find your shade.

For external use only. Keep away from the eyes.

Sensitivity Transparency

A tinted glow you can wear every day, and open about every ingredient.

I formulate for bodies that react to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it.

Mineral Brightening Elixir softens the look of dullness and leaves an even, soft-focus glow, using a waterless mineral base and a gentle, non-acid Vitamin C. It is truly fragrance-free and essential oil-free. If you are navigating an autoimmune condition, MCAS, eczema, psoriasis, or skin that reacts to strong actives, this is a soft glow with nothing sharp in it. It is also made for dry, mature skin, including skin that has grown drier through perimenopause and after, when it makes less oil of its own. Here is the full picture, including one note that really matters.

Important, this is not a sunscreen

This balm contains zinc oxide, and it is not a sunscreen. It is not tested or intended for sun protection, and the zinc is here purely for a smooth, soft-focus finish. This matters especially because many autoimmune conditions, and some medications, make skin photosensitive. Please do not let a mineral tint stand in for real sun care. Wear a dedicated broad-spectrum SPF as the last step of your morning routine.

Truly fragrance-free

There is no synthetic fragrance and no essential oils, and as a waterless balm it carries none of the benzyl alcohol that, as a declarable fragrance allergen, keeps our water-based butters from the claim. The soft, earthy note is simply the base oils themselves.

Why it’s made for reactive skin

Gentle, non-acid Vitamin CAn oil-soluble, non-acid form. Brightness with no sting, and nothing to activate.
Mineral tintThe colour comes from natural iron oxides, named in full as CI 77491, 77492, and 77499.
No preservatives neededA waterless mineral balm, so it needs no preservative system at all.
98% natural · EWG 2A high-natural formula with a clean EWG rating.

Every ingredient, named

Here is everything in the jar, a short, waterless mineral balm, and one of the lower-allergen formulas in the line. The notes below are a couple of light botanical and sourcing mentions, with the colorants named in full.

Open the full ingredient list
Minerals & TintZinc Oxide (non-nano), Kaolin, Iron Oxides · hero
The natural minerals behind the smooth, soft-focus finish and the warm tint. Zinc oxide and kaolin are gentle and well tolerated. The colour comes from iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), which are mineral pigments rather than synthetic dyes. See the note above on why this is not a sunscreen.
Vitamin C & JojobaAscorbyl Palmitate, Jojoba, Bamboo
A gentle, oil-soluble, non-acid form of Vitamin C, plus skin-familiar jojoba and silica-rich bamboo. All well tolerated. Jojoba is the base here, which is why the balm sits comfortably on dry skin.
Emulsifiers & TextureCetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polyhydroxystearic Acid
The olive-derived emulsifiers and fatty alcohol that let the balm sheer out. Olive-derived, so a light note for the olive-sensitive, and cetearyl alcohol is an occasional contact sensitizer for a few people. Polyhydroxystearic acid is the formula’s small synthetic portion, about 2%, and it disperses the minerals smoothly. Named here for transparency.
Vitamin ETocopherol
A natural antioxidant. One light sourcing note: our Vitamin E (tocopherol) is sunflower-derived, a light note for anyone with a sunflower or ragweed (Asteraceae) allergy, though it is highly purified.

That is everything in the jar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. One more time, because it matters: this is a tinted cosmetic and not a sunscreen. Wear a real SPF over it. And because it carries a natural mineral tint, a quick patch on the jaw helps you find your shade and check how your skin feels. You know your body best.

If you are navigating a condition, use this alongside your doctors, never instead. Mineral Brightening Elixir is a cosmetic. It is made to soften and comfort skin, and it does not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

  1. Elizabeth S.

I am obsessed! I love a dewy, healthy glow, and this tinted elixir nails it! I got so many compliments at work, and I love how it hydrates my skin, gives me my Vitamin C, and gives me a finish that makes me feel confident! I wear it alone with a bit of blurring powder on my nose for everyday, and for extra coverage, I wear it as a base under my tinted moisturizer. Gives me the perfect ‘glow from within’ that I love.
