i. The Signal

When getting the day off leaves your skin tight.

By evening there is a full day to take off. Makeup, SPF, pollution, sebum. If your skin is reactive, you already know what the taking-off usually costs you: a face that feels tight and stings before you have even finished.

Enzyme Cleansing Oil was made to dissolve all of it gently. Oil lifts oil, and the day comes off without the tightness.

ii. The Ritual

The day melts away, and your skin stays soft.

A silky first-cleanse oil that dissolves makeup, SPF, and the day’s buildup the way oil does best. Oil lifts oil. Then a splash of warm water wakes the fruit enzymes, fermented papaya and pineapple, for a smoother, brighter-looking finish. No surfactants and no detergents. A clean slate.

The texture is a lightweight, silky oil. The squalane and light coconut-derived base keep it from ever feeling heavy or greasy. It melts in, turns soft and milky with water, and wipes clean. The first step of your evening, before your second cleanse.

Made for skin that

feels tight or stripped after most cleansers
wears makeup or SPF that needs taking off
wants a gentle first cleanse without surfactants
likes a smoother, brighter-looking finish from fruit enzymes

iii. The Standard

How this cleanse is built.

Enzyme Cleansing Oil is oil only. No surfactants, no emulsifiers, no PEGs. The oils do the lifting and warm water does the rest, which is why the face is left soft rather than tight.

Oil only · no surfactantsNo detergents, no emulsifiers, no PEGs.
Fermented fruit enzymesGentle fermented papaya and pineapple. They wake with water.
Fragrance-free & EO-freeNo synthetic fragrance and no essential oils.
Light, stable baseA skin-familiar base of squalane, jojoba, and coconut-derived oil. Light, never greasy.

The hero · Fermented fruit enzymes

A closer look at the enzymesLactobacillus/Papaya Fruit Ferment · Pineapple Fruit Extract

The fruit enzymes are what make this a cleanse rather than only an oil. Fermented papaya and pineapple fruit extract sit quietly in the oil until warm water wakes them, for a smoother, brighter-looking finish. Fermenting them first makes them softer on reactive skin than the raw fruit would be. One thing to know before you order: papaya is part of latex-fruit syndrome. If you have a latex, papaya, or pineapple allergy, read the transparency section below first.

A first cleanse, every evening, followed by your second cleanse.

AfterSoft and comfortable. Never tight or stripped.

How to Use

Warm

Dispense a few pumps into dry palms and warm the oil for a moment before it meets your skin.

Massage onto dry skin, slowly

Work over a dry face for 30 to 60 seconds. The oils dissolve makeup, SPF, and the day’s buildup. This is the part worth not rushing. Small circles, light pressure, a few unhurried breaths.

Add water to activate

Wet your fingertips with warm water and keep massaging. The water wakes the fruit enzymes and the oil turns soft and milky. Let it sit about a minute for a smoother, brighter-looking finish.

Rinse or wipe

Rinse with warm water, or press a warm, damp cloth over the face to lift everything away. Let the warmth sit for a breath before you move.

Finish

Follow with your second cleanse. For external use only.

New to fruit enzymes, or have reactive skin? Patch test on your inner arm first, and start a few times a week.

Where it sits in your routine

This is step one, and on most evenings it is the step everything else depends on. It comes off first: makeup, sunscreen, the day. Then a second cleanse with the Hydrate or Brighten Cleansing Bar, then an essence, a serum, and the Ceramide Barrier Cream or the Defy Face Butter to close it.

Mornings usually do not need it. It is built for taking things off, and there is nothing to take off when you wake up.

Care & Keeping

How long a bottle lasts

How fast you get through it depends on how much makeup you take off, so there is no single number, and rather than invent one here is what is actually known.

Unopened and kept cool, the oil holds for about 12 months from making. Once opened, the closure sets the clock: a dropper is the shortest, a lock-pump the longest. Two clocks run at once and the first one to finish is the one that counts.

Whether it is preserved, and why not

No, and it does not need one. There is no water in here. A preservative exists to stop things growing in water, and with no water there is nothing to grow in. That is one more thing left out on purpose.

What is in here instead is vitamin E and rosemary extract. Those are antioxidants. They slow the oils turning over time, which is a different job from preserving, and worth knowing the difference if you read labels closely.

Storing it

Cool, dry, out of direct light. Around room temperature is right.

The one that matters more here than on any other oil we make: keep water out of the bottle. This is a cleansing oil, so it lives by the sink, and having no water in it is exactly why it needs no preservative. Wet hands on the dropper or the pump undo that. Dispense first, then wet your hands.

If it arrives warm, and when to stop

Warmth in transit is nothing to worry about here. There is no water and no emulsion, so there is nothing to melt and nothing to split. Leave it somewhere cool and it will be exactly as it should be.

What to watch for over a long time is the smell. Plant oils turn eventually, and when they do the scent goes sharp or flat rather than soft. If yours smells different from the bottle you opened, stop using it on your face and tell us, and we will replace it.

Sensitivity Transparency

A gentle first cleanse, and open about every ingredient.

I formulate for bodies that react to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it.

Enzyme Cleansing Oil takes off makeup, SPF, and the day through oil alone, with no surfactants, no detergents, and no PEGs, plus gentle fermented fruit enzymes that wake with water. It is truly fragrance-free and essential oil-free. One thing to flag clearly up front: it contains papaya and pineapple, which matters for a few specific allergies. Here is the full picture.

Please read if you have a latex or fruit allergy

This cleanse contains papaya and pineapple. Papaya is part of latex-fruit syndrome, so if you have a latex allergy you may cross-react to papaya, and to banana, avocado, or kiwi. If you have a papaya or pineapple food allergy, this is your note. If either applies to you, we would skip this one, or patch test with real care first.

Why it’s made for reactive skin

Oil only, no surfactantsNo detergents, emulsifiers, or PEGs. The oils do the lifting and warm water does the rest.
Fermented fruit enzymesThe papaya and pineapple are fermented first, which makes them softer on reactive skin.
Truly fragrance-freeNo synthetic fragrance, no essential oils, and no benzyl alcohol. Nothing scented at all.
Light, stable baseA skin-familiar base of squalane, jojoba, and coconut-derived oil.

Truly fragrance-free

This one is truly fragrance-free. There is no synthetic fragrance and no essential oils, and as a waterless oil it carries none of the benzyl alcohol found in our water-based butters. Nothing scented at all. The soft, neutral note is simply the oils themselves.

Every ingredient, named

Here is everything in the bottle, a light cleansing oil with fermented fruit. The clearest flags are the papaya (latex-fruit syndrome) and pineapple above. The notes below add a sunflower and ragweed-family note and a mint-family note for the rosemary, so you can decide with the full facts in hand.

Open the full ingredient list
Fermented Fruit EnzymesLactobacillus/Papaya Ferment, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) · hero
The fruit enzymes: fermented papaya, carried in papaya seed oil, and pineapple fruit, carried in sunflower oil. Fermenting makes them gentler than raw fruit would be, and they are still papaya and pineapple. See the latex-fruit and food-allergy note above. This is the part to patch test.
Cleansing BaseCaprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Squalane, Jojoba
The light base: a coconut-derived triglyceride, worth knowing if you are coconut-sensitive, though it is highly purified, plus olive-derived squalane and jojoba. All three are skin-familiar, stable, and rarely reactive.
Nourishing OilsRosehip, Pomegranate
The conditioning seed oils. Rosehip is in the rose (Rosaceae) family and pomegranate is food-derived, named here for those specific allergies, though reactions to the oils are uncommon.
Sunflower, Rosemary & Vitamin EHelianthus Annuus, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Tocopherols
Sunflower appears as the carrier for the pineapple, and our Vitamin E is sunflower-derived too. Sunflower is in the daisy and ragweed (Asteraceae) family, the note for anyone with a ragweed or sunflower-seed allergy. Rosemary is a mint-family (Lamiaceae) botanical, a light note for that family. Both antioxidants are there to keep the oils fresh.

That is everything in the bottle. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. Because this one has fruit enzymes, patch test on your inner arm first, especially if you have a latex, papaya, or pineapple allergy, or if you react easily. You know your body best.

If you are navigating a condition, use this alongside your doctors, never instead. Enzyme Cleansing Oil is a cosmetic. It is made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin, and it does not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
