What is in it

Eight ingredients. Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate does the cleansing, with a little sodium lauryl sulfoacetate for the foam. Colloidal oat for the soft base. Tapioca starch, silica and snow mushroom for the airy slip. Panthenol and allantoin to leave skin comfortable after the rinse.

Why it is a powder

There is no water in the jar, so there is nothing for anything to grow in, and no preservative in the formula at all.

The cleanse itself rests on Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate, one of the mildest surfactants available. It is plant-derived, made from the lauric acid in coconut, and vegan, with a little sodium lauryl sulfoacetate for the soft foam. That is what lets a real cleanse feel this gentle, and what the powder format leaves out is the part most cleansers cannot.

Fragrance-free with no caveat, because there is no benzyl alcohol anywhere in this one. Several of our water-based products are called unscented rather than fragrance-free for exactly that reason.

How to use it

Keep the jar and your hands dry

Water is the only thing that spoils a powder. Dry hands or a dry scoop, every time.

A quarter teaspoon, in one dry palm

Tip about a quarter teaspoon into one dry palm. A little makes more than you expect.

Add water and work it into a cream

With wet fingertips from your other hand, add a few drops of water and work the powder until it turns creamy.

Massage over damp skin, then rinse

Light pressure and lukewarm water, and let the soft cream do the work. Rinse when you are done.

Morning, evening, or once a day

Whichever suits your skin, and it can change with the season.

I formulate for skin that reacts to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it. What tolerance looks like changes over time, and it is different for each of us, so what follows is composition rather than a promise. Here is everything in the jar, written for anyone with a specific allergy.

Colloidal OatAvena Sativa · certified gluten-free

The soft, soothing base. The oat here is certified gluten-free, tested to the below-20 ppm standard, so it does not carry gluten from neighbouring grains. To be precise, that certification sits on the oats rather than on the finished powder. Two honest notes remain. Oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own. And oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema. If either applies to you, decide alongside your doctors, never instead.

Disodium 2-SulfolaurateCoconut-derived · the cleansing agent

The surfactant behind the soft cream. It is plant-derived, made from the lauric acid in coconut, so it is worth knowing if you have a coconut allergy. Vegan.

Sodium Lauryl SulfoacetateCoconut-derived foam

The gentle foam, also coconut-derived, and named here for the same reason.

Tapioca Starch & SilicaManihot Esculenta, Silica

The airy slip and the soft-focus feel. Tapioca is a root starch and silica is a mineral, both named separately so you can check each one.

Snow Mushroom, Panthenol & AllantoinTremella, Panthenol, Allantoin

The softening and conditioning ingredients, here to leave skin feeling comfortable after the rinse. Tremella is a mushroom, so a small number of people with mold or fungal sensitivity prefer to know it is in the jar.

That is everything in the jar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, the coconut-derived surfactants if you are coconut-sensitive, or the oat if you are celiac or react to oat on skin, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.

How long one jar lasts

It looks like almost nothing in the jar, and that is the point. The smallest amount cleans a whole face, so a jar this size lasts far longer than it looks.

We have not printed a month figure, because ours would not be yours.

Whether it is preserved, and why not

It is not, and it does not need to be. A preservative exists to stop things growing in water, and there is no water here. That is the whole reason this cleanser exists for people who react to preservatives.

Keeping it dry

This is the one rule. Store it somewhere dry with the lid on, and use a dry scoop or dry hands every time. A humid bathroom shelf is fine, as long as water never gets into the jar. If the powder ever clumps, it has met moisture, so keep it away from the sink and out of the shower spray.

If it settles or compacts in transit

Powders settle and can pack down a little on a warm journey, and that is only the powder finding its level. Give the closed jar a gentle shake and it loosens again.
