The texture is lightweight and fast-absorbing. The squalane and jojoba base is non-comedogenic, so it sinks in cleanly and leaves no heavy film behind. That combination was chosen for the way it refines the look of congested skin at a gentle level, and because it leaves the face feeling comfortable afterward.

This is tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, an oil-soluble Vitamin C chosen because it stays stable in a waterless formula and works at the skin’s own pH. It is lab-made, and we name it plainly. One thing to know before you order: this is the only product in the line that contains neem. Neem is commonly cautioned against during pregnancy and nursing, and it can be a contact sensitizer for a small number of people. The full note is in the transparency section below.

How to Use

Warm a few drops

Press a few drops between your palms to warm the oil before applying.

Press into the skin

Press gently over the face and neck. No rubbing, and let the oil sink in on its own.

Build slowly

Start a few times a week and build up as your skin gets comfortable. Gentle and steady.

Layer last

Use after your serum, as the final step. It can also go under a butter or cream.

Take your time herePress it in gently with your palms. Give yourself a few unhurried breaths while it absorbs, because the pressing itself is part of the point.

Where it sits in your routine

This is step four. Cleanse, then an essence, then a serum, then this pressed in. It can be the last step on its own, or it can go under the Ceramide Barrier Cream or the Defy Face Butter when your skin wants more over the top.

Once or twice a week the Cacao Renewal Polish or the Radiance Mask goes in after cleansing. That step is optional, and the routine works without it.

Care & Keeping

How long a bottle lasts

A few drops covers the whole face, so a bottle goes a long way, and most people use less of it after the first fortnight.

Worth knowing alongside that: the oil itself keeps well for about 10 to 11 months in its amber bottle. Rosehip sits high in this formula, and rosehip is the first thing to turn, which is what sets the number. Buying this one to use rather than to save is the right instinct.

Whether it is preserved, and why not

No, and it does not need one. There is no water in here. A preservative exists to stop things growing in water, and with no water there is nothing to grow in. That is one more thing left out on purpose, and it is part of why the list is as short as it is.

What is in here instead is vitamin E and rosemary extract. Those are antioxidants. They slow the oils turning over time, which is a different job from preserving, and worth knowing the difference if you read labels closely.

Storing it

Cool, out of direct sunlight, cap closed. Oils mind light and heat more than they mind anything else, so a sunny windowsill and the shelf above a hot shower are the two places to avoid. A drawer or a cupboard is ideal.

If it arrives warm, and when to stop

Warmth in transit is nothing to worry about here. There is no water and no emulsion in this bottle, so there is nothing to melt and nothing to split. Leave it somewhere cool and it will be exactly as it should be.

What to watch for over a long time is the smell. Plant oils turn eventually, and when they do the scent goes sharp or flat rather than soft. If yours smells different from the bottle you opened, stop using it on your face and tell us, and we will replace it.

This is the one product in the line that contains neem, a botanical long used in skincare. Neem is commonly cautioned against during pregnancy and nursing, largely on the basis of studies of ingested neem oil. It can also be a contact sensitizer for a small number of people. If you are pregnant or nursing, or you know you react to neem, check with your provider before using it, and patch test first. For everyone else, it is simply named here so the choice is yours.

A stable, oil-soluble Vitamin C, and bakuchiol. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is lab-made. We name it plainly here so you do not have to work it out from the INCI.

Base & Seed OilsSqualane, Jojoba, Rosehip, Green Coffee, Prickly Pear, Hibiscus

The light base is olive-derived squalane and jojoba, both non-comedogenic, skin-familiar, and rarely reactive. With them sit rosehip, from the rose (Rosaceae) family, prickly pear (Cactaceae), hibiscus (Malvaceae), and green coffee (Rubiaceae). Named for those specific allergies. Reactions to these oils are rare.

Clarifying BotanicalsGotu Kola, Carrot, Neem

Algae, Sunflower & AntioxidantsGreen Caviar, Astaxanthin, Sunflower, Rosemary, Vitamin E

Two algae-derived ingredients sit here, green caviar (sea grape) and astaxanthin with its companion carotenoids, alongside rosemary and Vitamin E. The astaxanthin comes from Haematococcus pluvialis, a freshwater microalga, and nothing in this formula is shellfish-derived. The algae are a light note if you know you react to algae-derived ingredients. Tocopherol is sunflower-derived, and sunflower seed oil is also in the formula, so both sit in the sunflower and ragweed (Asteraceae) family. Rosemary is a mint-family (Lamiaceae) botanical, and both are light, highly purified notes.
