Some weeks skin just looks flat, and you want the brightness back. If you have tried a strong vitamin C or a clay mask for it, you may have finished redder than you started and stopped trying.

Radiance Mask was made for those weeks. Nine ingredients, mixed fresh each time you use it, built on a stable form of vitamin C over a soft fruit and mushroom base. No acids, no clay, and no activation step.

Vitamin C is where brightening usually goes wrong for reactive skin, so this one uses a different form of it.

Ascorbyl phosphate is a stable, salt-form vitamin C. It needs no activation step, and it does not go off in the jar the way pure ascorbic acid does, which is the whole reason this mask is a dry powder rather than a cream. There are no exfoliating acids anywhere alongside it, and no clay.

Left out on purpose

No exfoliating acids. No clay, so nothing tightens as it dries. No water, and no preservative, because there is nothing here for anything to grow in. No synthetic fragrance and no essential oils.

About the scent, said plainlyIt smells of soft rose with something fruity behind it, closer to a bowl of berries than to a rose perfume. Nothing was added to make it smell that way. Because rose naturally carries some of the same compounds that appear on fragrance-allergen lists, this one is described as no synthetic fragrance rather than fragrance-free. If you are highly fragrance-reactive, that is the honest note, and it is the reason the words are different on this page.

This one is described as no synthetic fragrance rather than fragrance-free, and that is deliberate. The bullet above says why. The only grain in the formula is oat, and the allergens note sets out the gluten-free certification and the two caveats that go with it.

How to use it

Mix a small scoop

Stir about half a teaspoon with a little water, or with your essence, into a soft, spreadable paste. Mix only what you are about to use.

Smooth it on

Apply an even layer over clean, dry skin, avoiding the eye area. Take your time. This is the ritual.

Let it sit

Ten to fifteen minutes. It stays comfortable as it sits, and it does not pull tight the way a clay mask does.

Rinse and follow on

Lukewarm water, pat dry, then your serum and butter.

Once or twice a week

This is the optional middle step. If you also keep the Cacao Renewal Polish, use one or the other rather than both in a night.

I formulate for skin that reacts to almost everything, including my own. So I build for less, and I name all of it. Here is everything in the jar, written for anyone with a specific allergy.

Colloidal OatmealAvena Sativa · certified gluten-free · read this one first

Soothing and cushioning, and it is what makes the paste creamy. The oats here are certified gluten-free, sourced and tested to the below-20 ppm standard, so they do not carry gluten from neighbouring grains. To be precise, that certification sits on the oats rather than on the finished powder. Two honest notes remain. Oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own. And oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema. If either applies to you, decide alongside your doctors, never instead.

PassionfruitPassiflora Edulis · latex-fruit group

Passionfruit sits in the latex-fruit cross-reactivity group, which matters to a small number of people with a latex allergy. It is named on the label rather than hidden in a fruit blend, so you can decide before you buy.

Strawberry & RoseFragaria Ananassa, Rosa Damascena

Both sit in the rose (Rosaceae) family, and strawberry is a common food allergen. The rose is here as a flower powder rather than an oil, and it is the source of the soft scent.

Coconut Milk PowderCocos Nucifera

Coconut is labeled a tree nut in the US, though it is not botanically a nut and coconut allergy is a separate thing from true tree-nut allergy. It is named here so you can weigh it against your own history.

Vitamin C & Snow MushroomAscorbyl phosphate, Tremella Fuciformis

A stable, salt-form vitamin C that needs no activation step and does not degrade in the jar. Tremella is a mushroom, so it is named plainly here for anyone with a mould or fungal sensitivity.

Dragonfruit & Green TeaHylocereus Undatus, Camellia Sinensis

Dragonfruit is a cactus fruit (Cactaceae) and green tea is Camellia sinensis, both named here for those specific allergies. They are in for antioxidant botanical character rather than for any active effect.

That is everything in the jar. Nothing hidden, nothing implied. If a particular ingredient gives you pause, the oat if you are celiac or react to oat on skin, the passionfruit if latex cross-reactivity is part of your picture, or the rose if you are highly fragrance-reactive, patch test a small area first. You know your body best.

Care and keepingHow long a jar lasts, whether it is preserved, and keeping it dry

How long a jar lasts

Half a teaspoon does a whole face, and you are using it once or twice a week, so a jar goes a long way.

We have not printed a month figure, because ours would not be yours.

Whether it is preserved

It is not, and it does not need to be. This is a dry powder with no water in it, so there is nothing for anything to grow in. That is why the list is nine items long with no preservative among them.

Mixing only what you need

Mix in your palm or a small dish, never in the jar. A mixed paste has water in it and no preservative to go with it, so it is a fresh thing each time rather than something to keep for tomorrow.

Keeping water out of the jar

Water is the only thing that spoils a powder. Use a dry spoon or dry fingers every time, and keep the lid on. Store it somewhere dry and out of the steam, which usually means a cupboard rather than the shower shelf.

If damp gets in you will see it before you smell it. The powder clumps and stops blooming smoothly, and that is the point to stop using it.

If it arrives in hot weather

Nothing to worry about. A dry powder has nothing to melt and nothing to separate, so heat in transit does not affect it. It may settle in the post, which is why the jar can look less full than you expected. Give it a gentle shake with the lid on.
