Cloud Cleansing Powder was made for those days, and for the people who read the preservative first, because that is the ingredient that tends to find them. It is a dry powder that turns to a soft cream in your hands, with no oil and no water in it, so there is nothing to preserve.

How this cleanse is built.

Cloud Cleansing Powder cleanses with Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate, an ultra-mild, plant-derived surfactant, with a little sodium lauryl sulfoacetate for the soft foam. Both are carried in a base of colloidal oat and tapioca starch, so the whole cleanse stays soft on the skin.

The whole cleanse rests on one surfactant, chosen because it is one of the mildest available. Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate is plant-derived, made from the lauric acid in coconut, and it lifts oil and the day at a level reactive skin tends to tolerate comfortably. It is what lets a real cleanse feel this soft. The transparency section below names it in full, along with the small note for anyone with a coconut allergy.

The powder is dry and soft in the jar, closer to a fine flour than a grain. The moment it meets water in your palm it loosens into a light cream, and it rinses away without a trace.

Scent: almost none. What little there is comes from the oat and tapioca themselves, a soft, dry, faintly cereal note you might catch while it is in your hand. It does not carry once you have rinsed, and it never fills the room. Nothing was added, and this cleanser is fragrance-free and essential oil-free.

How to Use

How to use it

Keep the jar and your hands dry. Tip a small scoop, about half a teaspoon, into one dry palm. Wet the fingertips of your other hand, blend in a few drops of water until the powder becomes a soft cream, and massage over damp skin. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Keep water out of the jar

This is the one rule. Use dry hands or a dry scoop every time, and keep the wet hand well away from the jar. Water is the only thing that spoils a powder.

For reactive skin

Use light pressure and lukewarm water, and let the soft cream do the work. Avoid the eye area.

Where it sits in your routine

This is step one. Cleanse with Cloud, morning and night, or once a day if that suits your skin better. Once or twice a week, follow with the Cacao Renewal Polish or the Radiance Mask. Finish with the Defy Face Butter or whichever elixir you already keep.

The middle step is optional. In a hard week, cleanse and finish, and leave the rest for when you have more to give.

How long one jar lasts

Whether it is preserved, and why

It is not, and it does not need to be. There is no water in the jar, so there is nothing for anything to grow in. That is the whole reason this cleanser exists for people who react to preservatives.

Keeping it dry

Store it somewhere dry with the lid on, and use a dry scoop or dry hands every time. A humid bathroom shelf is fine, as long as water never gets into the jar. If the powder ever clumps, it has met moisture, so keep it away from the sink and the shower spray.

If it settles or compacts in transit

Powders settle and can pack down a little on a warm journey, and that is only the powder finding its level. Give the closed jar a gentle shake and it loosens again.

The soft, soothing base. The oat here is certified gluten-free, tested to the below-20 ppm standard, so it does not carry gluten from neighbouring grains. Two honest notes remain. Oats naturally contain avenin, a protein a small number of people with celiac react to on its own. And oat is a contact allergen for a small number of people, most often those with eczema.
