A New Standard for Sensitive, Reactive Skin
Nervous System Skincare™
Your skin is the part of your nervous system you can see.
You read the whole label before you buy. You have your reasons.
You can do everything “right” and still find your skin reactive and dull. Your skin shares an origin with your nerves, the ectoderm, and it is dense with them. The two stay in constant communication for the rest of your life.
When your nervous system sits in chronic activation, in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, your skin answers. Cortisol rises and circulation slows.
Skin that looks red, flat, or newly sensitive is often reporting on what the system beneath it has been carrying. Nervous System Skincare™ is a clinically informed approach formulated to meet it there. We formulate by subtraction, so every ingredient we leave out is one less thing your skin has to respond to.
Formulated for skin with no buffer left, and written for people who read the full ingredient list before they buy. You deserve the whole truth on the label.
This is a language for noticing. It is not a diagnosis, and it belongs alongside your doctors, never instead of them. Indiefog products are cosmetics, made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin. They do not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
The Five States
Before the label, there is your skin.
Which one sounds like today?
Whatever showed up today, it is information.
This is a language for noticing. It is not a diagnosis, and it belongs alongside your doctors, never instead of them.
Why It Counts
The magnesium is the one people understand first.
Then they ask how a face oil belongs in the same line. Those two get there different ways.
The magnesium butter adds something
Magnesium is a word you already associate with rest. You can name it and you can picture it, so nothing about it needs explaining.
The few slow minutes it takes to use are part of why people reach for it. A warm jar, and a grounding evening ritual at the end of a long day.
The facial line leaves things out
Your face is the most reactive skin you have, and the first place your state shows. So the facial products are made with less in them.
No synthetic fragrance. No essential oils. Short ingredient lists, published in full, each exclusion left out on purpose.
Two ways in, one intention. Giving a body on high alert less to carry.
Made for sensitive, reactive skin, including skin navigating eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or MCAS. It soothes the look and feel of stressed skin. It does not treat any condition.
The Objection
You have been burned by clean before.
So every product page carries the whole list. Not the highlights, and not the four ingredients that photograph well. All of it.
- Full INCI on every product
- What is left out, and why it is left out
- Preservation system named on the label
- Salicylate and cross-reactivity notes, said plainly
Read it before you decide. Patch test first. Decide for yourself.
What Comes After
Picture the part that comes after you decide.
You did not have to screenshot the label and cross-check every line against the list you keep on your phone.
You did not have to email anyone to ask what the fragrance is hiding.
You read it start to finish, and you knew. That is the whole point of putting the list where you can see it.
We suggest a patch test on the inner forearm, left 24 hours, before facial use. Indiefog products are cosmetics, made to cleanse, soften, and comfort skin. They do not treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
The Four Standards
What each one decides.
One decides how a formula feels. One decides what goes in. One decides how it is kept safe. One decides what we tell you about it.
Sensory Safety
For reactive skin, sensory input is physiological input. Texture, scent, temperature, and pace all tell your nervous system whether it is safe to settle. Every formula is built to give that answer.
In Practice
- No synthetic fragrance, anywhere in the line
- Facial line essential oil-free
- Nothing gritty or abrasive
- Slow, predictable rituals
- Formulas that honor your limits
Key Ally · Tremella, 0.5%
A hydrating mushroom, in 11 of our formulas, for a soft and cushioning feel. It sits on our mold-sensitivity disclosure list, which we would rather you heard from us.
Clinical Formulation
Every ingredient is weighed for the metabolic cost it asks of a system already running at capacity. If it does not earn its place, it does not go in.
In Practice
- Formulated by a clinical formulator
- Gentle textures, nothing stripping
- Low-stimulation actives
- No dilution, no fillers
- Nutrient-dense, intentionally simple
Key Allies · Niacinamide, Bakuchiol, Peptides
Niacinamide sits at 2.5%, with zinc PCA at 1%, in Clarity Essence and Balance Serum. Five formulas use bakuchiol, chosen for skin that cannot tolerate retinoids. The peptides come from avocado and lupine, which is why four products carry a lupin cross-reactivity note.
Certified Preservation
A water-containing product with no preservative is a contamination risk, and that is not a risk to hand to anyone whose immune system is already working hard. Every water-based formula is preserved with one of two certified systems. Anhydrous formulas need none, and get none.
In Practice
- One 100% natural preservation system
- One COSMOS and Ecocert certified system
- Every water-based formula preserved
- Anhydrous formulas, stable by design
- The system used, named on the label
Key Allies · Ceramides, Panthenol, Oat
Ceramides in Shield Serum and the Ceramide Barrier Cream. Panthenol across four formulas. Colloidal oat in both cleansing bars. Every one chosen for comfort on skin that has none to spare.
Radical Honesty
We tell you what is in your products and why, including where the science is established and where it extends into clinically informed intuition. We never speak to you like a problem to be solved.
In Practice
- Full ingredient transparency
- Language that honors your lived experience
- No overclaiming, ever
- We say which is science and which is intuition
- Salicylate sources, named openly
Key Ally · Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract
From organic hemp, included for a calm, quiet sensory experience, and named for exactly what it is.
Scent
Our essential oil policy
Almost every product is available essential oil-free.
We never use synthetic fragrance, anywhere in the line. The entire facial line is completely essential oil-free. Each lightly scented body butter has a fully essential-oil-free twin, made for skin that reacts to even gentle botanicals.
There are two exceptions. Our menthol magnesium butters are built around their botanicals, and no unscented version of them exists. We name them plainly on every label, so you always know exactly what you are reaching for.
Facial line
Essential oil-free, every product.
Scented body butters
Each has an essential-oil-free twin. Pure Descent, Pure Reset.
Menthol butters
Built around their botanicals. No unscented version.
Synthetic fragrance
Never used, anywhere in the line.
From Standard to Practice
A standard is only real if you can feel it.
Here is where these four live.
In our formulas
Every product passes all four before it exists. We choose ingredients for what they do, weigh what each one asks of a system already running at capacity, preserve every water-based formula with a certified system, and name what is inside and why.
In your rituals
Your daily care becomes a grounding practice. Slow, predictable steps that ask nothing extra of you, in a moment that meets you where you actually are.
